The Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia, better known as the APHM was formed in 1970. The APHM remains the only Association representing private hospitals with a current membership of 162 of the 210 private hospitals. It's to be noted here that membership to the APHM is open to all healthcare facilities licensed as Private Hospitals by the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Health and all other Ministries recognise the APHM as the representative of the Private Hospital Sector and have engaged with it in matters relating to healthcare policies and delivery of care. With this continued support of the Government and more importantly that of its member, the APHM remains playing a very significant role in promoting quality, patient safety and good governance amongst its member hospitals.
